Together, We Empower Lives Learn More Creating Lasting, Human-Centered Solutions to Socioeconomic Barriers in Nigeria through Sustainable Approaches.

At the Medicaid Foundation (MF), we are dedicated to crafting sustainable, human-centered development interventions to overcome socioeconomic barriers in Nigeria. Conceived to provide crucial support for socioeconomic development, MF was incorporated in 2018 and has operational bases in Abuja and Kebbi State. Our ground-up approach is fueled by a passion for accelerating the growth potential of communities across Nigeria. While we have a strong history of work in cancer care through the Medicaid Cancer Foundation arm, our scope has expanded to include women’s rights, education, and economic empowerment. Our teams are committed to these areas, and since our inception, we have successfully reached over ten thousand women and three thousand children with various human development interventions. We believe that by focusing on the health and prosperity of women and children, we can create strong, vibrant communities that sustainably leverage their natural and human resources.

Strategic Priorities
Our work is strategically aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), serving as a framework for our interventions to drive meaningful change. By prioritizing the health and prosperity of women and children, we directly contribute to several key global targets.
Women & Children

Women & Children

Advance The Rights of Women and Children

Build the coalition of voices required for sustained and widespread change of attitudes and beliefs about gender in Nigeria. Champion the reform of legislation and policies to secure the rights of women and children.

SDG 5: Gender Equality. This includes our work to champion the reform of legislation and policies to secure the rights of women and children, and our advocacy for the domestication of women and child rights laws at the state level in Nigeria.

Healthcare Access

Healthcare Access

Advance Equitable Access to Quality Healthcare Service

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. Our research and advocacy aim to advance the adoption of universal health coverage in Nigeria. Additionally, our work to strengthen primary healthcare services through capacity building for healthcare workers, expanding access to routine immunization services, and providing patient access to care programs that offer discount therapies directly supports the goal of ensuring healthy lives for all.

Economic Empowerment

Economic Empowerment

Advance the Economic Empowerment of Women

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. We invest in women collectives through capacity building and partnerships, helping them access financial services. We also support financial literacy programs for women without formal education, enabling them to establish profitable economic operations.

Education & ICT

Education & ICT

Advance Access to Quality Education and Information Technology

SDG 4: Quality Education. We advocate for and pilot models, such as the "School Without Walls" project , that deliver quality education to children who are out of the formal education structure. We also support the integration of information technology into the national curriculum. The "School Without Walls" project, for example, seeks to increase access to quality basic education for children of primary school age in Kebbi State by leveraging radio services and the interactive audio instruction methodology.
